To build a social contract, four questions need to be answered by the students:
- How would you like to be treated by the teacher?
- How does the teacher want to be treated by you?
- How do you want to be treated by others?
- How do we want to deal with conflict?
Last week, students were broken into four groups and asked to blog about each question. Once completed at one station, students moved on to the next question. They added their own answers and commented on the responses of others. One crucial question they were asked to reflect on was, "What does that look like?". For example: A student wrote 'respect' as an answer to one question. Another student commented about how this involves respecting time, space, and feelings.
The blogs that were created were fantastic! I compiled the information into a wordle as a visual representation of the information we collected.
