When I was first learning about plot in elementary school, I had a difficult time determining the climax of a story. Through my investigations on this topic as a teacher, I have found that The Three Little Pigs is by far the best, clearest example of plot structure. There are four types of conflict within literature- Character versus Character, Self, Society, Nature. We examined each of these up close and used children's literature to discuss the use of each one. ReadWriteThink.org has compiled a great list of books to connect with each type of conflict.
